The cooking confidence kitchen kit list

We think every kitchen should have at least these gadgets;

Stage 1

  • Non-stick frying pan. Never use metal utensils on your non-sick pan, so…
    • A silicon spatula, preferably two, so you don’t spoil the non-stick.
  • Two different size stainless steel pans, with lids. Buy well and they should last you decades
    • Choose steel handles and they can go in the oven too
  • A spud peeler
  • A spud masher
  • Bread knife
  • A good cook’s knife
  • Knife sharpener
  • A microplane grater
  • Slotted spoon
  • Large sieve
  • Good sized chopping board
  • Corkscrew /bottle opener
  • Zip-lock freezer bags
  • Permanent marker (for labelling freezer bags with content and date)
  • Kitchen roll
  • Tea towels
  • Clingfilm
  • Washing up sponge and (soft) scourer

Stage 2

  • Rectangular or square pyrex casserole dish (easier for lasagne!)
  • Silicon brownie mould
  • A different size cooks knife
  • Carving fork
  • Whisk
  • Kitchen scissors
  • Citrus juicer
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Salad spinner
